The Finest Fighting Irish Excitement On Tap

Who’s Next?

December 31st, 2008 . by adamn

We know what the Irish are right now.

(An average team.)

We don’t know what they can be.

(A BCS team?)

To find out what’s next, we first need to know who’s next. New stars need to emerge to take this team from where they are to something better. So, here are 5 Irish young guns that need to step (or show) up before they wear out their first Mach 3.

5.) Robert Blanton. The new cover boy. No, not in a GQ sense like Tom Brady. I mean in a let’s not worry when the opposing quarterback looks to the left side of the field, ‘cuz opposing receivers are afraid to go where Blanton’s shadow roams.

4.) Kapron Lewis-Moore. A rangy and athletic defensive lineman that needs to attack and munch down opposing quarterbacks like the Cookie Monster takes down Chips-Ahoy!

3.) Deion Walker. Starring in a B movie classic-Attack Of The Jumbo Receivers That Can Run! Mike Floyd, Kyle Rudolph, and Walker. Defensive coordinators won’t know who to cover.

2.) Steven Filer. The best chance (besides Darius Fleming) for an attack dog at linebacker. Seek the ball, and bloody anyone that dares to carry it toward the endzone.

1.) Cierre Wood. Another recruiting class, another Parade All-American. Such is the way Notre Dame does things. Wood needs to be one that actually lives up to the name, and give the Irish running game some oomph.

A BCS team… Ha! That is probably the best joke that I have heard in a while. The only way that ND will become a BCS team is if they fire their sloth of a coach. Also, I have another question for anyone who is out there. What in the world is a “5-star” OG thinking when he committed to ND? In all honesty the Linework that ND has displayed in the past couple years is hideous. If Charlie had any smarts he will get rid of his OL coach…

Oh and BTW, nice job beating Hawaii another piss-poor team, I have a feeling the ND fans are going to think that Jimmy Clausen is the second coming (at least until next season starts…)

ND needs to quit thinking about money so much and join the Big 10, that is their only way to regain their respectability!

    Big Ben,

Ive heard lots of better jokes, I recommend watching Comedy Central every once in awhile.

Weis and his staff have a ton to prove (I’ll admit this with no problem), but the only thing this team needs to make the BCS is a running game (look at the schedule). Lack of running cost Notre Dame 3 games this season. Latina may need to be fired, and Weis needs to commit more to the ground game as well. In the past, teams like Oklahoma have significantly improved their rushing attack by adding a “run game” coordinator, so maybe the Irish need to do something like this.

Also, I have nothing against the Big 10, but what do the Irish have to gain by joining? NBC is still willing to pay, and the Irish need to be a “national team”. They needs to have a presence from coast to coast, and not lock themselves into just the midwest part of the country. They would die if the midwestern states were the only ones they could recruit from.

    Admin,

You honestly believe that Weis will hire a “run game” coordinator? The man’s ego is larger than his belly; he wants to call the shots. The extent of football he played during his youth was the occasional game of techno bowl. He called the plays during his video game years, and he’ll call the plays during his coaching years.

I’ll tell you what ND has to gain if they join the Big Ten. RESPECT! They have lost their respect throughout the nation and the only way to gather it will be by joining a conference. I mean look at who else is “independent” they are not exactly in good company. Oh, and here is another good way to gain respect… WIN!

It’s easy for ND to pick and choose the games they play year in and year out, so that their record will not give an accurate showing of how good or in most cases how bad they are. If they join a conference at least there will be a standard to base their ability. Even if it is the worst conference (Big Ten).

    Big Ben,

I don’t think Weis is nearly as arrogant as people seem to think. He knows that things need to be fixed, and he seeks out advice. He probably won’t get a run game coordinator, but he knows that aspect must be fixed.

Nd cannot “pick and choose” games, they must respect conference schedules. Also, they just have to win more games to get respect, not join a conference.
